Day 1: Fly from Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park
Board a flight from Zanzibar to Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your safari guide who will transfer you to Nyerere National Park. The drive from Dar es Salaam to the park’s entrance takes around 4-5 hours, but it can vary depending on the location of your lodge or camp. Once you arrive at the park, settle into your lodge or camp and enjoy a late afternoon game drive in the park’s wilderness
Day 2: Full Day Safari in Nyerere National Park
Rise early for a morning game drive when the wildlife is most active. You may have the opportunity to see lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. Return to your lodge or camp for lunch and some relaxation during the hottest part of the day. In the afternoon, embark on another game drive or choose an optional boat safari on the Rufiji River, which offers an excellent chance to see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds. As the sun sets, head back to your accommodation for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 3: Final Safari Activities and Return to Zanzibar
Depending on your departure time, you can either enjoy a final morning game drive or participate in a walking safari, which is a unique way to explore the African bush on foot accompanied by an armed ranger. After the morning activity, return to your lodge for breakfast and check-out. Your safari guide will transfer you to the airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar.
