EXPLORE

LAKE MANYARA

Lake Manyara National Park is a protected area located in the northern part of Tanzania, East Africa. The park covers an area of 330 square kilometers, including the famous Lake Manyara, which covers about two-thirds of the park’s total area. Lake Manyara is a shallow alkaline lake that is the centerpiece of the park, and is home to thousands of flamingos and other water birds, making it a bird-watcher’s paradise.

The park is famous for its large herds of elephants, tree-climbing lions, hippos, giraffes, zebras, baboons, and other primates. The park is also home to over 400 species of birds, including flamingos, pelicans, storks, and cormorants. The diverse range of vegetation, including groundwater forests, acacia woodlands, and open grassy plains, provides a habitat for a variety of wildlife.

Visitors can enjoy game drives, bird watching, walking safaris, cultural tours, and night game drives in the park. There are several lodges and campsites inside the park and in nearby towns, providing accommodation for visitors. The park is easily accessible by road and air, with the nearest airport being Kilimanjaro International Airport, which is about 130 kilometers away.

THE BEST TIME TO

VISIT

The best time to visit Lake Manyara National Park is during the dry season (June to October) when wildlife concentrations are high and the vegetation is less dense. The park is managed by the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), which is responsible for protecting and conserving Lake Manyara and the park’s wildlife and natural resources for future generations.
